Obama Unveils New Strategy for Scaled-Down Military ABC News, by?Mary Bruce |
Original Article |

After a decade of war, President Obama today outlined his strategy for a leaner, less-costly military with an increased focus on emerging threats from Asia, saying ?we need to be smart, strategic and set priorities? as the Pentagon faces steep budget cuts. ?The tide of war is receding. But the question that this strategy answers is what kind of military will we need after the long wars of the last decade are over. And today, we?re moving forward, from a position of strength,? Obama said in the first visit by a U.S. president

Comments: More destruction by the vile, corrupt 0bama. Cut the military to the bone but don't ever touch his welfare programs that are bankrupting us. It is horrifying he thinks so little of the country he is to protect and defend. I never knew until 0bama was elected that I would be capable of hating someone so much.

The Middle East is in turmoil and Iran is on the verge of developing a nuclear bomb and BO is focused on Asia? Another example of glaring incompetence.

Rick Perry should go into SC pushing this Issue. He, being a Air Force Pilot, above anyone else in the Race should be screaming to high heaven against what Obama is doing to our Military. It's Treason!

I think the article misquoted Dear Leader. "And today, we?re moving forward, from a position of strength." was wrong. It was actually, "And today, we?re moving backward, leading from behind."

I hope scaling down includes doing away with the Commander in Chief position as he is the most worthless guy in the military and way overpaid.

Is anybody surprised that he is gradually disarming this country? This is just another step by this evil person to totally bring this country down. So far he is succeeding without anyone doing a thing to stop him. If he is not stopped by Congress, the courts or (Heaven forbid) other means then this country, as we knew it, is doomed. Many of us here have predicted that he would declare Martial Law and totally take over our country and our lives. This will be done as a last resort for him because he doesn't have to as long as his actions are succeeding in destroying us without any resistance. Come on Congress, come on courts - lets see some action !!

While the military is not a "jobs program," I anticipate Obama "laying off" soldiers in a manner to cause the most discontent and disruption possible, most likely harming areas that vote against him the most. The glut of available men will be hard for this "Progressive" economy to swallow. It's from such unemployed young men that social disruption and violence occurs. No doubt in my mind such a crisis is Obama's goal.

NEW HAVEN ? A doctor whose wife and two daughters were killed in a violent home invasion has become engaged to a woman who volunteered at events organized by the foundation set up to honor their memories. Washington Post scribes David Nakamura and Felicia Sonmez dutifully set out today to paint President Obama as the hero of the masses for his "bold act of political defiance" in naming "Richard Cordray as head a new consumer watchdog agency Wednesday, bypassing Republican opposition in the Senate that derailed his nomination last month." Nakamura and Sonmez waited until the 10th paragraph in their 33-paragraph page A1 story to get to the Republican side of the argument, that "precedent, over the past two decades, has been that no president can make

Prospects for striking a binding global climate deal by 2015 are probably toast if President Obama loses in November. That?s among the conclusions in a wide-ranging, new climate and green energy outlook from banking giant HSBC?s research branch. A major outcome from the United Nations climate talks in December was a plan to craft a deal by 2015 ? one that would include big, developing nations such as China ? and have it come into force by 2020. But Obama?s main

President Obama is confident he had the authority to recess-appoint Richard Cordray to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), White House press secretary Jay Carney said Thursday. Republican leaders blasted Cordray?s appointment as an ?unprecedented? and potentially illegal power grab by the president, but Carney said the White House is ?very confident? that the law is on their side. At the same time, Carney added, "I don't want to anticipate legal challenges we haven't seen yet."

As part of his "We Can't Wait" campaign -- intended to make Congress look weak and ineffective -- President Barack Obama is making a power grab of questionable legality, critics say. Not only did the president recess-appoint a consumer protection "czar" on Wednesday, he also recess-appointed three new members of his controversial National Labor Relations Board. But, as Republican leaders argue, the Congress is not in recess. And in making the three NLRB appointments, Obama has ignored the written pleas of Republicans

On his radio show last night, Mark Levin declared that President Barack Obama has caused a ?constitutional crisis? caused by appointing members to the National Labor Relations Board and a director to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau without going through the constitutionally required Senate confirmation process. ?We have a constitutional crisis," Levin said. "It is in fact a constitutional crisis." "The President of the United States is trashing the Constitution now day in and day out,? Levin said.

President Barack Obama, hitting a key swing state on Wednesday, defended his decision to go ahead and appoint Richard Cordray as head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) without securing the Senate confirmation that is required by the U.S. Constitution. Article 2, Section 2 of the Constitution says that the president "shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein

It is symptomatic of Newt Gingrich?s ego and the distorted view of the world which accompanies it that he is convinced his woes are traceable to ideological enemies who lie and cheat to prevent his wonderfulness from becoming available to the American people. It was Rep. Nancy Pelosi?s fault he was brought up on ethics charges. It is the mainstream media that distorts his own words. And it is Mitt Romney who had the temerity to point out Gingrich?s own record and embarrass him, which has robbed him of his golden opportunity.

Here is an actual Rick Santorum quote: ?One of the things I will talk about, that no president has talked about before, is I think the dangers of contraception in this country.? And also, ?Many of the Christian faith have said, well, that?s okay, contraception is okay. It?s not okay. It?s a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be.? These comments were not dug up from some bygone moment of ideological purity, before dreams of a presidential campaign. He said it in October, to a blogger at CaffeinatedThoughts.com

President Barack Obama made four recess appointments Wednesday, naming three new members to the National Labor Relations Board and appointing Richard Cordray to lead the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. But the appointments may have been illegal, according to past administration statements. Obama?s own lawyers publicly stated in a 2010 exchange with Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts that the president doesn?t consider a congressional recess official ? meaning he can?t legally exercise his recess appointment power ? until Congress has been gone for three full days. Deputy Chief Judge Michael Malihi in the Office of State Administrative Hearings denied a motion by Obama asking to dismiss the complaint that seeks to keep his name off the state ballot during the March presidential primary. I know, I know. Gov. Rick Perry came in fifth place in that dumb Iowa caucus, where genuine Republican voters were probably in the minority. He has announced that he is returning to Texas to reassess his campaign, but I hope it's only to change gears and not to quit. I have been following the GOP candidates from the beginning, and while I have felt positive about nearly all (except Ron Paul)only Perry has inspired the same feeling I had as a teen in 1960 when JFK ran for president. However, it wasn't until Bill Clinton's inauguration that I realized that my excitement for JFK had nothing to do with the potential glamor of a young couple in the White House, but rather what he campaigned on.

With the Pentagon pushing to cut costs, Boeing said on Wednesday that it would close its sprawling military airplane plant in Wichita, Kan., over the next two years and lay off many of the 2,160 workers. Boeing said it would shift as many as 1,400 of the jobs to San Antonio, Oklahoma City or the Seattle area, by either transferring workers from Wichita or hiring others. It said it would eliminate the rest of the jobs. (snip) the Pentagon plans to adjust its war strategies and weapons programs to save at least $450 billion
